About Me

Hi, my name is Yuqi Chen. I am an aspiring data scientist and machine learning engineer studying data science at Northeastern University.

Quantitative data analysis has transformed the world we live in. The realization that collection of data in all areas is conducive to any endeavor — from those personal to institutional — has shaped what products are made, how they are priced, how they are marketed, and much more. With my degree, I strive to understand and participate in an increasingly data-driven world.

My technical work spans supervised learning, time series forecasting — with recent projects including an XGBoost-based NCAA bracket prediction model, a SARIMA/Bayesian natural gas storage forecasting system, a NoSQL analyzer of Federal Reserve Meeting Transcripts. I am fluent in Python and proficient in SQL and the data engineering workflows common to tech pipelines.

Outside of my professional endeavors, I enjoy weight training, hiking and skiing, reading, and meeting new people. Tales of Hulan River by Xiao Hong is my favorite book. I am fluent in Chinese and English and learning Japanese.
